Who we treat
GLP-1 medicines such as Mounjaro and Wegovy can be appropriate with reduced kidney function — but only with dose care, fluid awareness and biochemical monitoring. That monitoring is the service.

How treatment runs
Your journey begins with an in-person assessment at Spire. We review your renal history, dialysis needs, or transplant status to ensure safe prescribing.
Two weeks after starting, you'll have a video consultation and follow-up blood tests to monitor early tolerance and fluid balance.
Followed by blood tests every 4 weeks with regular review and monitoring via our portal — supported by Patient Initiated Follow-Up (PIFU).

More than a prescription

Rapid weight loss costs muscle, and muscle matters more with reduced kidney function. Simple progressive strength work is built into your plan.

Protein, potassium, phosphate and fluid all need thought on a GLP-1. Appetite suppression should not become undernutrition.

A structured 26-week outcome video clinic review decides whether treatment continues. You must have bloods and weight recorded to ensure your next prescription.
